“We all love mother Earth, because she is the one who has given us life and safeguards us”
Papa Franciso
Encyclical Letter ‘Laudato Sí’ on care for our common home
We inherited it from our parents and we owe it to our children. Therefore, at Quinta de Chocapalha, we treat nature with utmost respect. We owe it everything we do.
We practise sustainable farming, protecting the vines’ health and longevity.
We follow a set of guidelines for best practices that demonstrate our great respect for nature. We apply integrated production methods on the whole property.
We constructed a dam and planted indigenous vegetation, which has enabled dozens of animal species to return, from reptiles to fish and birds.
We use water from the dam to irrigate the fruit trees, another passion of ours. We grow Pêra Rocha pears, a traditional Portuguese variety. Sweet and juicy, this pear is a worthy ambassador of Portugal in the world.
Caring for the environment is also reflected in our wastewater treatment plant. Sewage from the winery is treated before being released into nature.
